Frédérique Constant is a Swiss company for the manufacture of luxury watches and was founded in 1988 as a family business by Aletta Bax and Peter Stas in Geneva . The first collection was presented in 1992.
All steps from design to production are carried out by hand by the manufactory .
Surname
The name Frédérique Constant is based on Frédérique Schreiner (1881–1969) and Constant Stas (1880–1967). The current managing director Peter Stas is the fourth generation of the descendants of Constant Stas, who founded a company in 1904 that produced printed dials for the watch industry.
history
Founded in 1988 by Aletta Bax and Peter Stas , the company bought the Swiss watch manufacturer Alpina, founded in 1883, in 2002 . At the end of May 2016, the Japanese watch company Citizen bought the Swiss Frédérique Constant group with the brands Alpina and Ateliers de Monaco , the latter was also co-founded by Peter Stas in 2008.

Charity support
Frédérique Constant supports numerous charities with grants to solve heart problems in children:
- The Heart Beat campaign will donate US $ 50 for every Double Heart Beat Collection watch sold to various charities in the field of heart disease in children.
- The International Children's Heart Foundation received a grant of US $ 50,000 in 2008 and US $ 75,000 in 2011 to improve opportunities and healing for children in developing countries with congenital heart disease.
- In 2009, a donation was made to the Paint a Smile Foundation in collaboration with Shu Qi for the renovation of the cardiological ward of the Beijing Children's Hospital.
