Fröauff

Fröauff was the name of one of the most influential civil servant families in the Moselle valley . She lived in the cologne enclave of Zeltingen-Rachtig since the 16th century . Petrus Fröauff from Saxony is considered to be the progenitor of the family . The family died out in the early 19th century.
The family's descendants include the church historian Franz Xaver Kraus (1840–1901) and Admiral Wilhelm Canaris (1887–1945).
