Freight rate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Freight rate describes a procedure for determining the price for the transport of an asset or the price determined in this way.

The pricing depends on various parameters from which the price is formed according to a table or formula . Such parameters are typically distance, mass , shape, volume and type of transport (truck, ship, airplane), and often also the availability of the resources required for transport.

An example of a formula used to determine the freight rate is the volumetric weight used in air transport .
