Fraile Muerto , also known as Frayle Muerto , is a city in the Cerro Largo department in eastern Uruguay .

It is located in the center of the department about 40 kilometers west of the department capital Melo . The Arroyo Fraile Muerto flows through the city .

There are uranium deposits at Fraile Muerto .

On December 19, 1957, Fraile Muerto was included in the " Villa " category by Law No. 12,478 .
