The Français Cove ( French Anse Français ) is a small bay at the northern end of Booth Island in the Wilhelm Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is on the west side of Port Charcot .
They were discovered by participants in the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903-1905) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . Charcot named it after his research ship Français , which anchored in Port Charcot in the Antarctic winter of 1904. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the French name to English in 1952.
