Francesca Rochberg

Francesca Rochberg , also Rochberg-Halton, (born May 8, 1952 in Philadelphia ) is an American science historian and Assyriologist . She is known for research into Babylonian astronomy and astrology .

Rochberg studied at the University of Pennsylvania (Bachelor in 1974) and received his PhD in 1980 from the University of Chicago . She was a professor at the University of California, Riverside , and is a professor at the University of California, Berkeley . In 2010 she was visiting professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

In 2007 she was at the Institute for Advanced Study . In 2006 she was a Fellow of Magdalen College at Oxford University .

In 1982 she became a MacArthur Fellow . In 1993 she was a Guggenheim Fellow. She has been a member of the American Philosophical Society since 2008 .

She also wrote a novel Gone Crazy Out There (2008).
