Francesco de Ficoroni
Francesco de Ficoroni (* 1664 in Lugnano ; † January 25, 1747 ) was an Italian archaeologist .
The Ficoronische Ciste , named after Ficoroni, one of the most important Italian antiquarians of the first half of the 18th century, is the largest, most perfect and also the only signed copy among the younger Praenestine Cists. As a tour guide, he showed Rome to Francesco Bianchini , Ridolfino Venuti , Philipp von Stosch , Joseph Addison and Andrew Fountaine, among others . Between 1705 and 1710 he carried out excavations on the Via Appia .
