Francisco Zumel
Francisco Zumel (* around 1540 in Palencia ; † 1607 in Salamanca ) was a priest and later master of the order of the Mercedadier (OdeM). Initially he worked as a schoolmaster. From 1580 he took over a professorship for moral theology at the University of Salamanca and was appointed Provincial of the Order Province of Castile after entering the order . In 1593 the General Chapter of the Order elected him 32nd General Magister of the Order, founded in 1218 for the liberation of Christian prisoners from the hands of the Moors .
