Frank B. Zoltowski

Frank B. Zoltowski (* 1957) is an Australian amateur astronomer . He discovered more than 200 asteroids .

He conducts his search for near-earth objects from his house in Woomera with the help of a CCD camera. In 1998 he received the Gene Shoemaker NEO Prize for the improved search methods he developed . He also programmed CCDTRACK, a computer program that enables the automatic tracking of electronically controlled telescopes for celestial objects selected by the user.

Zoltowski recognized in May 1999 that the 1999 asteroid AN 10 would come very close to Earth, but would miss it by at least 37,000 km. The next time closest to the earth is in August 2027.

The asteroid (18292) Zoltowski was named after him.
