Frank Claus (* 1955 in Bad Oeynhausen ) is a German chemist and book author .

Career

Claus studied chemistry at the University of Dortmund (today: Technical University of Dortmund ) from 1974 to 1980 and completed his doctorate in 1983. At that time he was already concerned with environmental protection and pollutants. For example, in 1984 he published the work “Formaldehyde - a nation is glued” together with Rainer Grießhammer and Fritz Vahrenholt . In the course of his research, pollutants remained an important topic in everyday life, at work or in toys. In 1985 Claus received a teaching position in Dortmund. At that time, the spatial planning department at the University of Dortmund was looking for a chemist. Because contaminated sites and soil contamination were also topics of the spatial planners. Claus consistently relied on transparency and also involved environmentalists in his work - which is now common practice, but was a novelty in the mid-1980s. Since the late 1990s, Claus has been publishing primarily in the field of communication and mediation through dialogue.

In 1988, Claus heard a mediator from the USA who presented his way of working, which was still unknown in Germany at the time. This gave rise to the idea of founding my own company. In 1991 the IKU GmbH started its work, in 1990 Claus ended his engagement at the University of Dortmund. Since then, he has mainly worked on strategies to cope with conflicts.
