Frank Donner is an American executive in the film industry, film producer and documentary filmmaker . It was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Documentary for Deliver Us From Evil 2007 . The film deals with sexual abuse in the Catholic Church .

career

Frank Donner studied business communications and television and radio at California State University Northridge . He achieved a bachelor's degree in both subjects.

Donner was the director of customer service for Four Media Company and vice president of marketing and new markets for Ascent Media. This was followed by a position as President of Advanced Digital Service (ADS), a company specializing in post-production of films. Then Frank Donner was President of Elektrofilm Digital Studios. The company, which specializes in digital services for the film industry, was built by Donner within three years into a company with sales of $ 10 million. Eventually he founded FDE Inc. and BLKBX Creative Group.

As a film producer, Donner first produced the 2005  thriller Between , which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival . Another thriller, Distortion from 2006, followed, and the documentary Deliver Us From Evil in the same year. The documentation received several awards. Among other things, Frank Donner was nominated together with Amy Berg for the 2007 Oscar for Best Documentary . The Oscar then went to An Inconvenient Truth . Afterwards Donner produced the thriller Broken Idyll , which was filmed in Austria . The comedy Melvin Smarty followed in 2012 .
