Frank Rönicke

Frank Rönicke is a German journalist, photographer and non-fiction author.

Life

Rönicke grew up in the GDR and came to the West in 1987. His wife and daughter, Katrin Rönicke , who later became known as a feminist blogger and author , were only able to travel to him from Saxony-Anhalt to Igersheim in Baden-Württemberg in 1989, before the fall of the Wall .

Focus

Rönicke published a number of non-fiction books on militaria and engine topics, especially in the Motorbuch Verlag Stuttgart, which belongs to the Paul Pietsch publishing group. Typical titles are bestsellers such as Heroes of Labor and Merited Activists on GDR commercial vehicles and German military motorcycles . He is co-author of Siegfried Rauch's book Men and Motorcycles on German motorcycle development. The publisher certifies that he has expertise in particular with two-stroke engines (wheels). The publisher also states that he can "fall back on an extensive photo archive for his books". German motorcycles since 1960 is considered to be a clear, comprehensive overview in words and pictures of this aspect of German vehicle history. He has also published on the Austrian Puch motorcycles.

Rönicke's reflections on the Trabant two-stroke vehicle and the history of technology in Eisenach and Zwickau as the automotive center of the former GDR also met with a positive response . The book Trabant - Legende auf Wheels is considered proof of his expertise in this vehicle.
