The Franken Timberwolves are an American football team from Fürth in Franconia in the state of Bavaria . The name should, based on the pack behavior of wolves , put the team spirit in the foreground. The Timberwolves play in the Bayern Nord Association League in the 2010 season.

history

The Franconian Timberwolves were founded in 1999. It succeeded in uniting all active teams in the city of Fürth under one flag. In the same year the game was started in the Regionalliga Süd and the promotion to the German Football League 2 was achieved. In the years 2000 to 2002, the team, simply called "Wolves" by fans, stayed in the upper half of the table of the German Football League 2. In 2003, relegation to the third division was barely prevented, but in the 2004 season it worked finally in the Regionalliga Süd. After a year in the middle of the regional league, in 2006 both the first place in the table and the promotion relegation was won. For financial reasons, the promotion to the German Football League 2 had to be rejected anyway.

In the 2007 season it was possible to build on the sporting success of the previous year, but surprisingly head coach Ralf Prosiegel joined the majority of the team in the neighboring city's football team. Due to the loss of almost all players, no game operation was possible in 2008.

After a complete rebuilding under the head coach Markus "Brösel" Rückl, the Timberwolves reported back in the 2009 season. Although they had to start in the Bayern Aufbauliga due to the break, they were able to get promoted to the Association League.

In the following season, the Timberwolves dominated with their young but talented squad, the Northern Division of the Bayern Association. They even managed the "perfect season", a season without a single defeat. So they moved into the playoffs as the first in the north. In the semifinals, the team defeated number 2 in the south, Landsberg X-Press. In the final, however, they had to admit defeat to the Dukes from Ingolstadt and thus missed the promotion.
