The Frankfurter Museum magazine was a Saturday cultural magazine that was published in Frankfurt am Main from the 4th quarter of 1855 to the 2nd quarter of 1859 .

Frankfurt Museum

The “Frankfurter Museum” magazine was founded in 1855 by the writer Otto Müller . It bore the subtitle "Aesthetic Wochenschrift" in number 1, from number 2 "Süddeutsche Wochenschrift" and from 1856 "Süddeutsche Wochenschrift for art, literature and public life".

In 1855 Müller acted as editor. In 1856 he published the magazine together with Theodor Creizenach . In 1857 and 1858 Creizenach was the sole editor. In 1859 the magazine was published by FE Suchsland ("Friedrich Emil Suchsland currently responsible for the editor").

The magazine printed novels and short stories in continuation, as well as poems, reviews and articles with biographical, geographical and cultural content. With the appearance of the number 26, the magazine was discontinued in June 1859. The message “To our readers” stated: “With today's issue, the Frankfurt Museum will cease to appear in its previous form as a weekly publication.” The prospect of “converting the paper into a review” did not take place. Creizenach tried in 1861 to revive the magazine as the "Neues Frankfurter Museum", but had to discontinue it after 9 months.

New Frankfurt Museum

From April to December 1861, Theodor Creizenach published the culture paper “Neues Frankfurter Museum”, which appeared six times a week and which appeared as a supplement to “Zeit”. The publisher and editor was Creizenach. Thematically, the sheet was based on the "Frankfurter Museum".
