Franklin Stahl

Franklin William Stahl (born October 8, 1929 in Boston , USA ) is an American geneticist .

In 1958, Franklin W. Stahl, together with Matthew Meselson, developed a method with which it could be demonstrated that the replication of the DNA is semiconservative (= half-conserving). This experiment is known as the Meselson-Stahl experiment .

In 1976 Stahl was admitted to the National Academy of Sciences and in 1982 to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . In 1985 he was a MacArthur Fellow . In 1996 he received the Thomas Hunt Morgan Medal from the Genetics Society of America .
