List of domestic dogs

Under the breed name French Hound , the FCI has three French dog breeds ( FCI Group 6, Section 1.1, Standard No. 219, 220 and 316 ).

The three French hound breeds differ essentially in their colors. They are kept in packs in France and are mainly used for deer hunting . In Germany some packs of Français tricolore are kept for drag hunts . The dogs are strongly built, well muscled and elegant in appearance:

  • Français tricolore (219) (French tricolor hound)
  • Français blanc et noir (220) (French white-black hound)
  • Français blanc et orange (316) (French white-orange hound)

What they all have in common is the size of up to 72 cm. The hair is short and fine; the ears are set at eye level, drooping; when placed forward, they reach roughly to the nose.
