The Franz-von-Assisi-Schule Osnabrück comprises a state-recognized vocational school for social assistants with a focus on social education and a state-recognized technical school for social education. The two-class school offers around 200 school places. The school sponsor is the fraternity of the Franciscans Thuine.

The school was founded in 1921 as a specialist seminar for the training of kindergarten teachers. In 1944 the seminar was closed on charges of "political unreliability".

From 1945 to 1951 the school was housed in Sutthausen Castle near Osnabrück, now known as the “Technical College for Kindergarten Teachers” and was named Wilhelmstift, not to be confused with the also Catholic theological convict Wilhelmsstift in Tübingen. Since 2006 the school has been located in the city center of Osnabrück in a new school building and bears the name Franz von Assisis due to constant confusion .
