Franz Arczynski

Franz Arczynski (born October 10, 1886 in Lubau , West Prussia , † July 13, 1946 in Eßlingen am Neckar ) was a German trade union official and politician ( MSPD , SPD and Social Democratic Party of the Free City of Danzig ).

Life

Franz Arczynski was the son of a worker. After attending primary school, he did an apprenticeship as a watchmaker and worked as a metal worker until 1914. Arczynski worked as a manager in the metalworkers' association from 1905. From April 1914 to 1915 he was managing director of the metal workers' association in Rathenow . From 1915 he was a participant in the war and 1916-1917 forced labor in the war industry, most recently in Gdansk.

From November 1918 to 1919 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Workers' Council for West Prussia and in April 1919 a delegate to the 2nd Council Congress in Berlin

From 1918 to 1921 he was trade union secretary and chairman of the trade union cartel and the General Trade Union Confederation in Gdansk. From 1921 to December 1928 he was the managing director of the metalworkers' union in Gdansk and chief representative of the sickness and death benefit of the metalworkers for the Free City of Gdansk.

From 1918 to 1923 he was a city councilor in Gdansk. In 1920 he was first a member of the Constituent Assembly and then for the Social Democratic Party of the Free City of Danzig until 1930 the People's Day . In 1927 he was chairman of the press commission. In 1928 he became co-chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in Danzig

In 1928 Franz Arczynski was appointed Senator for Public Works in the Senate of the Free City of Danzig in the Senate Sahm III (1928-1931) . From January 1928 to December 1928 he was initially an honorary senator and from December 1928 to January 1931 a full-time senator.

He was co-founder and long-time chairman of the Free People's Stage in Gdansk.
