Franz Beyer (politician)

Franz Andreas Beyer (born November 21, 1857 in Linz ; † August 9, 1925 there ) was an Austrian businessman and politician.

Life

Andreas Franz Beyer attended elementary, secondary and commercial school in Linz, became a businessman and in 1885 took over the long-established Noßberger business. He was not only active in numerous economic committees, but also as a major German politician in local and federal politics. Beyer was a member of the commercial court and was a member of the board of directors of the commercial committee for 25 years.

As a member of the Linz City Council from 1890 and 1919 (from 1907 to 1913 first Vice Mayor), he made outstanding contributions to the social sector and to the school system. He took the initiative to build a holiday home for needy children in Linz and to expand the secondary school, the commercial academy and the lyceum. He was also a functionary of the German People's Union.

Between 1911 and 1918 he was a member of the Austrian Reichsrat and then a member of the Provisional National Assembly as a representative of the German National Party .
