Franz Burbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Franz Burbach (* in Cologne ) is a German restorer and former television presenter .

Burbach took over the weather moderation on WDR television in 1983 and, as a central component of the current hour, became one of the most famous weather moderators in Germany. With his Rhenish folk manner, he became a cult figure and a pioneer of infotainment, as he added anecdotes to the purely factual moderation that was customary at the time.

Burbach was a full-time restorer specializing in church spiers. So he entered Robert Lemke's “ What am I? “As a gilder of church taps, which was his specialty.

He appeared in the moderation of the weather from the top of Cologne Cathedral and thus ensured an Americanization of the weather moderation format and paved the way for this type in German-speaking countries, which resulted in Sven Plöger among others .

In 2008 he took part in the NRW duel on WDR television.
