Sven Plöger (born May 2, 1967 in Bonn ) is a German graduate meteorologist and television presenter .

Life

In 1973, Plöger started school in St. Augustin - Menden near Bonn. From 1977 he attended the Rhein-Sieg-Gymnasium St. Augustin and finished school there in 1986 with the Abitur . In 1987 Plöger did his basic military service . In the winter semester 1988/1989 he started at the University of Cologne , a meteorology degree , which he completed 1996th From 1991 Plöger worked in the tropical meteorology group.

In July 1996, Plöger started working for Meteomedia , Jörg Kachelmann's Swiss weather forecast service provider in Gais ( Canton Appenzell Ausserrhoden ). In October 1996 he gave the first live interviews on the radio and on March 2, 1999 he hosted Das Wetter in Erste on ARD for the first time . He currently moderates several radio and television weather broadcasts, gives lectures and is involved in pilot training. Plöger is the author of several non-fiction books on weather and climate.

Plöger has been the official sponsor of the Bethel Children's Hospice for dying children since January 2010 .

In March 2010, Plöger received the award for Best Weather Moderator in Germany at the Extreme Weather Congress in Bremerhaven . In 2007 he was awarded the Donkey Order of the City of Wesel together with the presenter Steffi Neu .

Sven Plöger has been married since 1998. His hobbies on his website are: aviation (paragliding, gliding, microlighting), diving, skiing and traveling.
