Extreme weather congress

The Extreme Weather Congress (EWK) was set up with the aim of providing the public with first-hand information on the state of the art on the subject of extreme weather events in detail and in connection with climate change . He awarded the media prize for meteorology . The congress was organized by the Institute for Weather and Climate Communication. The last extreme weather congress took place in 2014.

Congresses: 2006–2014

The first three congresses and all congresses from 2011 took place in Hamburg, two more in the Klimahaus Bremerhaven . The extreme weather congresses in 2012 and 2013 met on the Studio Hamburg premises . The extreme weather congress addressed a wide audience with a variety of lectures from all disciplines of climate research. With over 800 participants, it was the largest congress on this subject in Europe.

Media award

The media prize for meteorology has been awarded at the Extreme Weather Congress since 2007. The best weather presentations will be assessed in different categories.

The weather picture of the year was chosen at the Extreme Weather Congress 2012. Jim Reed took first place, André Bock and Dennis Oswald took second and third place.

In 2013, the media prize for meteorology for the picture of the year went to Dennis Oswald ( extreme weather and landscape photographer and storm chaser ).
