Franz Carl Gerster

Franz Carl Gerster (born August 25, 1853 in Regensburg , † 1929 in Braunfels ) was a German physician.

Life

Franz Carl Gerster studied engineering at the Munich Polytechnic from 1871 to 1876. In 1872 he became a member of the Corps Franconia there . In 1876 he completed his studies as an engineer for railway construction and became an assistant in the geological survey of Bavaria at the Oberbergamt Munich. At the same time he studied natural sciences in Munich from 1876 to 1880. In 1878 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. In 1880 he began studying medicine in Munich. In 1883 he studied in Paris and London. In 1884 he passed the medical state examination in Munich and was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. In 1890 he became the editor of the monthly Hygiea . From 1893 he was the owner and head of a health resort pension and was Prince Solms's personal doctor in Braunfels.

Two years before the psychiatrist Bernhard von Gudden , Gerster wrote an opinion on King Ludwig II. Gerster examined the Bavarian king on February 5, 1884 for a dental disease.

Gerster was a protagonist in the scientification of psychotherapy and physical-dietary therapy as disciplines in human medicine.

Awards

Franz Carl Gerster was appointed to the secret medical council.
