Franz Josef Grimmeisen

Franz Josef Grimmeisen (born January 14, 1921 in Cologne ; † March 22, 2020 in Essen ) is a German dentist and amateur painter . He is a representative of German naive painting .

Life

Franz Josef Grimmeisen worked as a dentist in Essen and was an athlete in the first underwater rugby team in 1964 .

As an autodidact, Grimmeisen began to paint in 1973. He concentrated on cityscapes and representations of the Ruhr area and was soon able to exhibit in various galleries. His pictures have been exhibited in 46 different countries so far.
