Franz Larkens
Franz Larkens ( September 18, 1876 in Reichenberg , Austria-Hungary - July 8, 1963 in Vienna ) was an Austrian opera singer ( bass-baritone ) and singing teacher .
Life
Larkens was initially an employee of the Imperial and Royal State Railways . He began his stage career at the age of 46. In 1923 he made his debut at the Stadttheater Mainz and stayed there until 1942. He then worked as a singing teacher at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz .
In Mainz and also in guest appearances he sang a. a. the “Nelusco” in Meyerbeer's L'Africaine , the title role in Verdi's Simon Boccanegra , the “ Eugene Onegin ” in the Tchaikovsky opera, the “Hans Sachs” in the Meistersinger and the “ Wotan ” in the Ring cycle .
