Franz M. King

Franz M. König (born March 8, 1982 ) is a former German luge athlete from WSV Königssee and has lived in his new adopted home, Philadelphia , USA , since 2008 .

Career

König was a member of the German junior national team from 1999 to 2002 and celebrated his greatest success by winning the vice junior world championship title in 2002 in the two-seater race alongside Christian Kontny in Innsbruck and the junior world championship title in the team with David Möller , Tatjana Hüfner and Christian Kontny. In the 2002/2003 season he was a member of the German national toboggan team and employed in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr , but ended his active career in summer 2003 and switched to the coaching staff of the Canadian junior national team. In 2005 he took over the Australian national team and began with this preparation for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . There the Australian athlete Hannah Campbell-Pegg achieved 23rd place, the best result ever achieved by an athlete from Oceania in tobogganing at the Olympic Games. He then worked as a consultant for the Australian Association until the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .

From 2005 to 2008, König also looked after the now retired ski racer Jendrek Stanek as a consultant. In addition to these activities, he studied at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef-Bonn and Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
