Franz Meier (athlete)
Franz Meier (born September 16, 1956 ) is a former Swiss hurdler who specialized in the 400 meter distance .
In 1978 he was fourth at the European Athletics Championships in Prague and seventh at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow . At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 and at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he reached the semi-finals. He was Swiss champion five times (1978, 1979, 1981, 1983, 1984). He set his personal best of 49.42 s on August 22, 1984 in Zurich .
