Franz Rabe

Franz Rabe (born January 22, 1929 , † October 11, 1996 ) was a German neurologist and epileptologist .

life and work

After studying medicine, completing specialist training and habilitation, Rabe was initially senior physician at the Neurological University Clinic in Düsseldorf. From 1980 to 1994 he was director of the neurological clinic at the Krefeld municipal clinic . He was busy u. a. with the combination of epileptic and non-epileptic seizures and was awarded the Bodelschwingh Prize in 1974 for his corresponding book. For a time in German-speaking countries, when epileptic and psychogenic non-epileptic seizures occurred at the same time, the term “raven syndrome” was also used. Raven was u. a. 1975–1977 chairman of the German section of the ILAE (since 2004: German Society for Epileptology ).
