Franz Schrewe

Franz Schrewe (* 29. May 1950 in Brilon ) is a German politician of the SPD . From 1999 to 2014 he was mayor of the town of Brilon in the Hochsauerland district and from 2010 to 2015 he was also president of the European communal forest owners' association FECOF (Fédération Européenne des Communes Forestières). Since summer 2015 he has been the state chairman of the Social Association Germany North Rhine-Westphalia.

Life and work

Schrewe first attended primary school in Scharfenberg and then the Petrinum Brilon grammar school . After four years of voluntary service in the armed forces , he trained at the state finance school in Haan . He then studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Finance in Nordkirchen . After successfully completing his degree in finance, he worked for various tax offices in North Rhine-Westphalia from 1971 to 1999. In his free time, Schrewe deals with the Low German language and has presented two dictionaries.

Political career

Schrewe is a member of the SPD . From 1989 to 1999 he was a member of the city council of Brilon and at the same time mayor of the Scharfenberg district. In 1999, 2004 and 2009 he was elected full-time mayor of the city of Brilon.
