Franz Stangler

Franz Stangler (born November 8, 1910 in Erlauf ; † March 30, 1983 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and teacher. Stangler was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1949 to 1974 .

Life

Franz Stangler attended elementary and community school and then graduated from the St. Pölten teacher training college . He worked as a teacher in Puchberg am Schneeberg and St. Pölten and was a functionary in the Christian-German gymnastics association . In 1936 he became the regional youth leader of the Austrian Young People and in 1938 he was arrested for political reasons after the National Socialists came to power. He did his military service from 1940 and was taken prisoner by the British, where he returned from captivity in 1946. After his return he worked as a teacher again and was also regional chairman from 1946 to 1955 and federal deputy chairman of the Austrian youth movement between 1947 and 1950. He was also a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from November 5, 1949 to July 11, 1974, chairman of the financial control committee between 1963 and 1974, and ÖVP club chairman from 1964 to 1974. Stangler was also director of the Daniel Gran elementary school in St. Pölten from 1965 and president of the Friends of Carnuntum Association between 1977 and 1983.
