Franz Wamprechtsamer

Franz Wamprechtsamer (born February 26, 1873 , † February 26, 1956 ) was an Austrian teacher and co-founder of Austria's first farming school in Gröbming , which later became the agricultural school .

As a primary school teacher, Franz Wamprechtsamer founded Austria's first farming school on November 1, 1903, together with the pastor Engelbert Möstl and the farmer Franz Haiger in Gröbming.

From 1903 to 1904, Wamprechtamtter taught 23 peasant children for about two hours ( Sunday school ) every Sunday morning after their church visit . This was followed by the integration of the school into the St. Martin Educational Institute under the direction of Josef Steinberger, where the first agricultural school emerged.

In 1918, Wamprechtsamer was appointed director of a school in Graz .

Wamprechtsamer died on February 26, 1956 at the age of 83.

Honors

On August 18, 1917, on the birthday of Emperor Franz Joseph I , Wamprechtsamer was awarded the 3rd Class War Cross for Civil Merit.

In 2003, next to the municipal office in Gröbming, a memorial for Wamprechtsamer was created and a street and a settlement were named after him: Wamprechtsamerstraße and Wamprechtsamer settlement.
