Franz X. Schenzel & Sohn was a Viennese wallpapering company .

history

The company was founded in 1823. The factory was located at Nussdorfer Straße 64 in the 9th district of Alsergrund . The company became very successful and took part in several exhibitions where it was awarded. It was awarded the Bronze Medal at the Paris World Exhibition in 1867 . The owner Franz Xaver Schenzel (* 1831) received the golden cross of merit and the medal for good taste at the world exhibition in Vienna in 1873 and again the golden cross of merit with the crown in Munich in 1876. This was followed by the recognition diploma from the Kk Austrian Museum . At the Antwerp World Exhibition in 1885 , Schenzel received the honorary diploma and the gold medal and took part in the anniversary trade exhibition. Franz Schenzel delivered armchairs for the establishment of Hermesvilla of Empress Elisabeth. He also served as a juror and received the highest recognition from Emperor Franz Josef in Vienna in 1888.

The owner Franz Schenzel was named a KuK court upholsterer due to the high quality of the products .
