Franciscan Church (Câmpulung)
The Bărăția ("Brethren Church", from Hungarian barát , "brother, monk"), with the patronage of St. James , is the oldest surviving Roman Catholic church in the Archdiocese of Bucharest . The medieval church, which dates back to Transylvanian-Saxon colonists, is located in the small town of Câmpulung .
history
Until 1822, when city autonomy was abolished, the citizens gathered in St. James' Church elected their mayor on the third Sunday after Easter.
