Women rest room

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A women's rest room (also a reclining room ) is a rest room that is made available by the employer to the employees to rest . While the number and design of the rooms was previously precisely prescribed, since 2004 Section 6 (3) of the Workplace Ordinance has only spoken of the possibility of lying down and resting under suitable conditions . The time spent in these rooms is part of the recovery time without loss of earnings.

Federal German Workplace Ordinance of 1977

According to § 31 ArbstättV (also ASR 31 - reclining rooms), reclining rooms are used for resting

  1. expectant or nursing mothers during breaks and, if necessary for health reasons, also during working hours
  2. other employees if they are busy with work during which the workflow does not allow them to sit down temporarily.

Women's rest room in the GDR

In the women’s and family policy in the GDR , a focus on women-oriented work-life balance was a priority, and for women in the GDR, their own work was the norm. The women's rest room was required by law.

Federal German Workplace Ordinance of 2004

This ArbStättV only allows women to lie down and rest under suitable conditions . The Mutterschutzgesetz (MuSchG) contains important employment bans for this . These are prohibitions for employers to let certain employees work. The employee is paid for the time in full (employer receives money from health insurance). As a result of these employment bans, the women affected are no longer at work.

Recreation options in the relaxation / lounging room

(Women's) rest / lounging rooms can not only help expectant mothers when they feel unwell. During the breaks, rest / reclining rooms can also be used by other employees to increase their ability to concentrate, perform and react. Short daytime sleep and massages (relieving stress and tension) help people who are inclined to sleep polyphasia to overcome a low in the biological performance curve .
