The Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology ( SIT ) or Fraunhofer SIT is an institution of the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research eV (FhG) and is based in Darmstadt . There is also a branch in Sankt Augustin near Bonn and an office in Berlin. Fraunhofer SIT also operates branch offices in Israel and Singapore. The institute works closely with students and scientists from the Technical University of Darmstadt and the University of Darmstadt .

Fraunhofer SIT is a member of the Athene Research Center .

Fraunhofer SIT conducts application research in the areas of IT security and security through IT. On behalf of companies and public administration, the institute develops secure software solutions, creates security concepts and tests the IT security of IT-based systems and devices.
