Fred Josef Hansen (born June 12, 1957 in Hürth ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

Fred Josef Hansen was born in the Hermülheim district of the city of Hürth and graduated from high school in Kerpen in 1977. From 1977 to 1980 he attended the University of Applied Sciences for Forestry in Göttingen and in 1980 the State Forest Workers School. From 1981 he was a candidate for the senior service in the Obereimer Forestry Office and in 1982 forest clerk in the Gevelsberg Forestry Office. From 1983 to 1990 Hansen was the district manager of the Altenhundem Forestry Office and from 1991 to 1997 of the Olpe Forestry Office. From 1997 to January 1999 he worked at the Gillerberg Youth Forest Home. Hansen has been working at the interface between forest, recreation and tourism since 2001. He heads the corresponding priority task of the State Office for Forest and Wood, North Rhine-Westphalia. He is the head of operations for the South Westphalia rangers.

He is also the deputy state chairman of the ecological hunting association and Greenpeace.

Since May 10, 2012, the state chairman of the Association of German Foresters in North Rhine-Westphalia. He is currently a member of the staff council in the state forest and wood company, North Rhine-Westphalia and in the main staff council of the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of the Environment.

Fred Josef Hansen has been a member of the Die Grünen party (today: Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen) since 1983. From 1984 to 1989 he was a member of the Lennestadt City Council. From 1989 to 2011 he was a member of the council of the Kirchhundem community and since 1990 a member of the Olpe district council, where he acts as parliamentary group leader.

Fred Hansen was a member of the 12th state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from February 1, 1999 to June 1, 2000 , to which he moved. Until 2014 he is a member of the regional council of the Arnsberg district government.
