Freddy Gardner

Freddy Gardner (* 1910 in London ; † July 26, 1950 ) was a British musician ( clarinet , saxophone ) and band leader in the field of swing and dance music .

Live and act

Freddy Gardner was one of England's most famous saxophonists in the 1930s and 40s when he played in the bands of Syd Lipton, Billy Bissett and Bert Firman. He was also a busy session musician and worked among other things. a. on recordings of Jay Wilbur, Benny Carter , Teddy Foster , Valaida Snow , Ray Noble and Buck Washington . Gardner also appeared regularly on radio broadcasts and recorded from 1936 to 1939 for the Interstate, Parlophone and Rex labels with his own ensembles and his swing orchestra , in which trombonist Ted Heath played. After military service in World War II, he was a soloist with Peter Yorke & His Concert Orchestra. He died in late July 1950 after a stroke.
