Frederic Glesser

Frederic Glesser (born August 4, 1956 in Toledo / Ohio ) is an American composer and flautist.

Glesser first studied jazz music with Gene Parker and flute with Kay Hartsfeld . He then studied composition at Kent State University with James Waters and David Stewart , where he continued his flute lessons with Raymond DeMattia and Maurice Sharp . He received his master's degree from the University of Miami , where he was a student of composition with Dennis Kam . He was also Composer in Residence with Donald Martino at the Atlantic Center for the Arts .

In addition to piano works, Glesser composed music for orchestra and for chamber music. They range from Saucy Sally, Mad Mary for trombone and percussion, which is influenced by jazz and blues, to an arrangement of Statesboro blues by The Allman Brothers Band and Clearly Glass (for The Glass Orchestra ) to a piano piece dedicated to Max Lifchitz For One , which appeared on the grammy- nominated CD Final Bell . His works have been performed in North America, Europe, Argentina and Brazil by musicians and ensembles such as Kathleen Supové , Luis Gómez-Imbert , Ingrid Gordon , the Duo Ahlert - Schwab , Michael Linville , the Ibis Camerata , the Florida Symphony , the Akron Youth Symphony , and played with the Canton Youth Orchestra .
