Science award of the DGMKG

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DGMKG Science Prize is the highest award of the German Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DGMKG) and was called the Martin Waßmund Prize until 2011 . Since 1957, he has been awarding awards for outstanding scientific work in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery (MKG) at the company's annual congress for the previous year. The award was named after the founder of the scientific society, Martin Waßmund , and in 2011 was renamed the "Science Award of the DGMKG" because it uncompromisingly represented the racial hygiene goal of "extermination" during the Nazi era . The prize has been awarded since 1958. So far in 1975 the award has been divided once and given three times to working groups (once with 2 and twice with 3 authors). The panel of judges has consisted of five members of the Society since 1962. Before that time, the company's board of directors decided on the award. The prize money was initially 1000 DM, today the prize is endowed with 5000 euros. At the annual congress of the German Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the award winner gives a lecture on the subject of the award-winning work.

By 2015 there were 59 winners.

Extract from the statutes

Preamble: The German Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery), General Association of German Specialists for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery e. V. annually awards the "DGMKG Science Prize" in the amount of 5,000 euros. The "Science Prize of the DGMKG" is awarded for an excellent work in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery that has not yet been published and has not yet been awarded a prize. The work must not have been submitted for another award at the same time.
