Frederick George Creed

Frederick George Creed (* 1871 in Mill Village , Queens County (Nova Scotia) , Canada , † 1957 in London ) was a Canadian inventor of telecommunications equipment and was one of the first developers of Small Waterplane Area Twin Hulls ( SWATH ). The CCGC Frederick G Creed of the Canadian Hydrographic Institute is named in his honor.

In 1878 he moved from Mill Village to Canso in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, where he was employed by the Western Union Telegraph Company in 1885 . In 1895 he invented a system for the rapid transmission of Morse code . After moving to Great Britain, he founded Creed, Bille & Company Limited in 1912 , which was later renamed Creed and Company Limited .

In 1938 he presented his idea of ​​the SWATH to the British Navy. He later introduced it to the US Navy, but they weren't interested. In 1946 he was awarded a British patent for his invention .
