Parachutists in headdown

Freeflying is one of the youngest disciplines in skydiving . Invented at the end of the 1980s by the German Olav Zipser and later founder of the “1st School of Modern Skyflying” together with Mike Vail, Charles Bryan, Omar Alhegelan and Stefania Martinengo, it has developed into a serious and recognized sport - initially laughed at. Today international competitions such as the " Space Games " are held.

Freefly differs from other disciplines in skydiving in that the skydiver is not bound to a fixed, specific flight position, such as the prone position in formation jumping . Typical flight positions are instead overhead (headdown), standing ( stand- up), sitting (sitfly), but every conceivable position is possible.

Here are speeds from 240 to 350 h km / achieved.
