Free balloon

A free balloon is a free-flying balloon . It must be filled as a gas balloon with a lifting gas that is lighter than air, or it must be designed as a hot air balloon . Free balloons , together with tethered balloons (which have a constant connection to the ground by a line), are considered a separate aircraft class in Germany under aviation law.
