Free radio for Stuttgart

The Free Radio for Stuttgart (FRS) is a non-commercial radio program which is on air since 28 September 1996th The FRS is a member of the Federal Association of Free Radios .

Since January 2010 the FRS has been broadcasting around the clock again, except for two hours on Wednesday evenings from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm (during this time "Radio Kormista" broadcasts on the same frequency).

In addition to the endless disc , a pre-produced music entertainment program in endless playback, many entertainment programs , music magazines, articles by foreign-language editors and political word -of- mouth programs can be heard in the FRS .

The program is published in the bimonthly FRS magazine Modulator , which is available in bars and cultural institutions in the Stuttgart area and is also available on the FRS homepage as a PDF for reading or downloading; all previous editions are also archived there.

The free radio broadcasts from the chimney of the waste incineration plant in Münster on VHF 99.2 MHz with a transmission power of 0.3 kW in mono. The main beam direction is approximately north-northeast, so mobile reception in parts of downtown Stuttgart, in Stuttgart-Süd and in the Filder region is difficult or impossible. In areas of the cable network in the Stuttgart area, the program is fed in on VHF 102.10 MHz in stereo. In addition, since the end of April 2006, the FRS can be received worldwide via Internet live stream in OGG Vorbis format or, since July 2009, directly in the web browser via a Java applet in stereo or mono.

The FRS support association for Freie Radio Stuttgart e. V. is organized on a grassroots basis.
