The Freeport ( own notation : FREEPORT ) is a free youth magazine from Hamburg and is an honorary created by youth for youth. Display points are all secondary schools in Hamburg via the school authorities, all Hamburg library halls, all Hamburg universities and colleges in Hamburg, universities in Kiel, Lüneburg and the surrounding area and cafes and bars throughout Hamburg, especially in areas close to the university. The paper is published by the Junge Presse Hamburg and is financed exclusively through advertisements and cooperation with foundations and the like. A. FREIHAFEN appears up to seven times a year with a circulation of 20,000 copies. In 2009 and 2010 there was also a special edition for the Hamburg Youth Media Days , where FREIHAFEN is regularly represented.
idea
As a print medium, the youth magazine FREIHAFEN offers young people in Hamburg a forum for content exchange, discussion, opinion formation and education. It is a project of the charitable Junge Presse Hamburg e. V., appears on a voluntary basis and sees itself as a medium for young people between the ages of 15 and 27 with a social and political focus. The FREIHAFEN's motto is “We. Here. Now. ”, Which shows the closeness of the paper to Hamburg's youth and thus to current issues of the young generation.
history
FREIHAFEN was founded in autumn 2004 and the first edition appeared in January 2005. The project was based on existing youth magazines in other cities such as yaez from Stuttgart or the Spiesser from Dresden. The first edition had 28 pages. The founding editorial team included Christoph Hanssen and Anne Kühnel, each as editors-in-chief, as well as Oliver Krumm, Jonathan Stöterau, Wolfgang Denzler, Lina Brion, Jana Kischkat, Sebastian Olényi, Malte Riken, Anne Spies and Oskar Piegsa. In the first year the FREIHAFEN appeared ten times a year, except for the school holidays monthly.
particularities
FREIHAFEN describes itself as non-profit and democratically organized. Among other things, it works with the Working Group of Independent Youth Associations ( AGfJ ), the Hamburg Chamber of Students (skh) , the AStA of the University of Hamburg and the Authority for Social Affairs, Family, Health and Consumer Protection .
FREIHAFEN also maintains a partnership with the youth magazine “L'oeil des jeunes” from Burkina Faso .
