history

German translation of the source:

«At the beginning of October 1839, almost 20 German families settled here to found the Freetadt colony. Because of religious oppression in their home region, the community sought and found a religious "haven" in Wisconsin. The first log cabin was set up southwest of today's church. The collection soon took 40 aars of the country and in the spring of 1840 they built the first Lutheran church in this state. The timber structure, ranging in size from 30 to 20 feet, was also used as a schoolhouse. The first pastor of the religious assembly was LFE Krause (1841–1847). Later, in June 1845, the "Lutheran Buffalo Synod" took place here. Since 1848 the congregation became a member of the "Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod."
