Please note the note on the applicable legal version.

The Volunteer Act was a law that the German Bundestag passed on July 15 and 16, 1955, against the votes of the SPD . It allowed 6000 volunteers to be employed in the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany . The volunteers were to form the future military training and command personnel of the Bundeswehr that was being established. The law is therefore a milestone in the history of the Bundeswehr

On July 23, 1955, Federal President Theodor Heuss signed the law.

After the Soldiers Act came into force on April 1, 1956, the Volunteers Act became less important.
