Heveney leisure pool

The Heveney leisure pool is a swimming pool in the Witten district of Heven on Lake Kemnade between Bochum and Witten. It is part of the Kemnade leisure center .

history

The leisure pool was from 1985 designed by the architectural firm Aichele, Stuttgart , in collaboration with landscape architect Eckebrecht, Kelkheim , for 16.4 million Deutschmark built and opened on July 5 1986th It was one of the first communal leisure pools. Since then it has been continuously developed. In 2004/05 an outdoor pool and a slide tower as well as a lounge area were added.

In July 2016, the bath celebrated its 30th anniversary. It has had over 12 million visitors since its inception.

From January 2017, the pool will be part of the new Metropole Ruhr leisure company , which will initially combine four leisure pools in the Ruhr area.

Outside slide

The center of the facility is the warm bathing hall with 700 m² of indoor water area and up to 1.35 m depth. Next to it is the sun garden, a lounge and lounge area screened off with a film. There is a toddler bathing area and a whirlpool in the bathing hall, as well as one in the outdoor pool. Two slides that can be used all year round, one of which is a tire slide, and a 100 m long outside slide are available to guests.

Sauna

The sauna area in particular was expanded considerably in 1999 and 2000. There are eight saunas in total. In addition to the conventional infusion saunas, an earth sauna and a bio sauna are offered. There are also various cooling options.

Outside there is a warm and a cold pool. In addition, there are a number of solariums and a sauna bar with a fireplace. In addition, there are various relaxation areas distributed over the sauna area, including the Hevener cone made of red granite , where visitors can warm their feet. This offer is closely linked to the mining history of the district, because the stone is heated by air rising from the seam .

In addition to the saunas, there is also a steam bath as well as the steam grotto (located next to the Hevener Kegel) and a room for brine inhalation. There is also a café-restaurant in the leisure pool.

Visitors

In 2002 there were over 475,000 visitors; on August 16, 2004 there were 7.5 million visitors since its inception. In 2013 the pool had around 380,000 guests.
