The foreign newspaper was an Austrian daily newspaper that appeared from July 1, 1847 to March 22, 1919 in the 4 ° and 2 ° format once a day. From June 19, 1866, both a morning and an evening edition appeared.

history

The newspaper was founded on July 1, 1847 by Gustav Heine von Geldern . Until December 29, 1848, the main title was foreigners-sheet of the imperial and royal capital Vienna . With the issue of December 30, 1848, the paper changed the title to foreign paper and tag news of the imperial and royal capital Vienna . This was held until September 26, 1849. In 1904, the newspaper Die Reichswehr , which appeared in Vienna from 1889 to 1904, was published in the foreign newspaper . From December 16, 1904, Die Vedette , the military press and Das Welt-Bild appeared as a supplement to the foreign paper . The daily newspaper Der Neue Tag , which appeared until 1922, was the successor to the foreign newspaper from March 23, 1919 .

Printer and publisher

Josef Stöckholzer von Hirschfeld acted as printer of the foreign paper until February 27, 1848 and from April 1848 to September 25, 1849. In between, the sheet was printed by Josef von Schmidbauer and Josef Holzwarth. From September 26, 1849 to January 20, 1854, Carl Gerold & Sohn took over the printing of the foreign newspaper.

Carl Gerold & Sohn acted as printer and publisher from January 21, 1854 to November 1, 1856, August Dorfmeister from November 4, 1856 to January 2, 1856, and Gustav from January 3, 1863 to March 27, 1874 Heine von Geldern followed. Thereafter, printing and publishing were taken over by Elbemühl.
