Friendly match

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A friendly match or test match is a sporting pairing that is not included in any official rating.

In football , friendly matches are often played in preparation for a season or during the winter break and other breaks. At the national team level, friendly matches usually take place during qualification on “match-free” dates or in preparation for tournaments (such as the European Championship and World Championship ). These are much more important than the barely documented test games of clubs, flow into the international match statistics of the participating players and often take place as prestigious duels against strong opponents.

In other team sports such as ice hockey and basketball , friendly matches are also held during breaks in the season or between two seasons for the same reasons. The term “test game” is often used synonymously , sometimes also “private game”. Friendlies often also have pecuniary motives (entry bonus for higher-ranking teams, opening up new markets through friendlies abroad, etc.). Friendship games are also agreed as farewell games for deserving players. Since these games are not about the official rating, many teams use friendly games to protect ailing players or to give inexperienced players game practice. For this reason, these games are usually more fair than championship games.

So-called “compulsory friendship games” are a special form. These are not included in the official rating, but the teams are obliged to take part in these games. In some sports associations there are real leagues in which only compulsory friendship games are played. In amateur and youth sports, it is also common practice to allow teams that have "registered" to play out of valuation during the season. The games against these teams are then also considered compulsory friendship games.

In the e-sports is called the friendly match Friendly War or War Fun.
