Fri - foreningen for kjønns- og seksualitetsmangfold formerly Landsforeningen for lesbisk og homofil frigjøring ( LLH ) ( German : National Association for Lesbian and Homosexual Emancipation ) is the largest and most important LGBT organization in Norway .

history

The association was founded on November 29, 1992 under the name Landsforeningen for lesbisk og homofil frigjøring (LLH) . It was created by amalgamating various LGBT organizations, including the Det Norske Forbundet av 1948 (DNF-48). The DNF-48 was established in 1950 as a branch of the Danish organization Forbundet af 1948 and gained independence in 1952. In 1976 the left-wing working group Arbeidsgrupper for homofil frigjøring (AHF) was founded, which led to a split in the LGBT movement. This split was finally ended by the merger and establishment of the LLH.

In 2007, as a non-governmental organization, the LLH received official advisor status to the United Nations . At the national meeting in June 2008, the official name of the organization was changed from Landsforeningen for lesbisk og homofil frigjøring to the previous abbreviation LLH . In 2016 the association changed its name to FRI - foreningen for kjønns- og seksualitetsmangfold ( Free Association for Gender and Sexual Diversity ).
